A record decline in gas production in the United States over the last decade against the backdrop of a winter storm

Last Friday, natural gas production in the United States fell by about 10% compared to the previous day due to adverse weather conditions, Bloomberg reports. Temperatures in major gas production areas, including Texas, which is the main supplier, have fallen below freezing, according to the agency. This led to icing of the pipes and suspension of production. At the same time, it is noted that domestic demand rose to the highest daily level since the beginning of 2019.

Cold snap and snowstorms have hit a number of US regions this week, from the Pacific Northwest to New England and the Gulf Coast, as well as Canada. Difficult weather conditions, which are expected to continue until December 26, could lead to a reduction in LNG exports from the Gulf of Mexico.

The United States is a major LNG exporter and a key supplier to Europe, so port disruptions could affect the global market, Bloomberg noted earlier
