Madrid:ABB Bank's transformation journey is being examined as a teaching case at IE Business School, recognized as one of the world's leading business schools.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the case study, authored by Professor Antonio Zabaleta Moreno, is titled 'ABB Bank's Next Frontier: Choosing the Scope and Path of Growth'. It highlights ABB Bank's strategic and digital transformation, the implementation of an Agile operating model, technological modernization, and AI-driven development priorities, providing a real-world business experience for students.
The study details how ABB Bank overcame challenges since 2016 and outlines its strategic goals for 2026-2028. Professor Moreno used numerous indicators to demonstrate the bank's success, such as the increase in mobile application users from 171,000 in 2020 to 2.6 million in 2025, and the rise in the app's rating from 1.2 to 4.9. Additionally, the bank's Net Promoter Score (NPS) for digital channels improved from 48 to 77.
ABB Bank's Agile transformation is also covered, noting the establishment of 14 Agile tribes and more than 80 Agile squads, which reduced product development time from 243 days to 59 days. Since its founding in 2019, over 1,113 graduates have completed the ABB Tech Academy, with 83% securing employment.
The case study identifies AI adoption, digital capability expansion, market entry, and service integration into daily life as key developmental directions for ABB Bank. Abbas Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Management Board, expressed pride in the bank's journey being studied internationally, highlighting the value of strategic discussions at IE Business School.
