Baku: Administrative arrest will be imposed for repeated participation in gambling activities, APA reports. This development is a result of the proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current law mandates that participation in gambling activities is punishable by a fine of 3,000 manats, along with the confiscation of gambling equipment, as well as money or other property wagered in gambling, winnings, prizes, or other income obtained. However, the new draft law addresses repeat offenses more stringently.

The draft specifies that if the offense is committed again within one year from the date the administrative penalty decision is enforced, by an individual who has already faced an administrative penalty for the same offense, the consequences will be more severe. In such cases, gambling equipment and any associated money or property will be confiscated, and the offender will face a fine of 5,000 manats. Furthermore, depending on the case's circumstances and the offender's profile, they could be subjected to administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

The draft law was put to a vote and successfully adopted in the third reading, marking a significant step in the regulation of gambling activities within the country.
