Kuala lumpur: Maimunah Mohd Sharif, a prominent advisor on Sustainable Urbanization to the Government of Malaysia and former Executive Director of UN-Habitat, highlighted the critical need for accessibility, affordability, and adequacy in housing policies during a session with journalists at the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13). This forum, she explained, is a vital venue for addressing the complexities of urbanization.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Sharif pointed out that this year's session is centered on 'Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.' She stressed that housing goes beyond mere shelter, serving as a symbol of human dignity and societal health. Sharif underscored the importance of integrating core principles into housing policies, warning that settlements located far from workplaces contribute to increased carbon emissions.
