AERA Board Chairman Emphasizes Energy Cooperation at AHK Azerbaijan Event

Baku: Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), attended an event organized by the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) during Baku Energy Week. The event aimed to strengthen cooperation between German and Azerbaijani partners in the energy sector, promote investment opportunities, and discuss future strategic partnerships.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Samir Akhundov highlighted the significant transformation occurring in the global energy sector. He stated that Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a reliable energy partner and an emerging hub for green energy. Akhundov noted Azerbaijan's historical role in regional and European energy security through oil and natural gas resources and emphasized the country's new focus on diversification, renewable energy, and decarbonization.

Akhundov further spoke about Azerbaijan's significant renewable energy resources and the development of regional green energy corridors. He stressed the importance of Azerbaijan's role as a producer, export, and transit hub for green energy, connecting Central Asia, the Caspian region, and Europe. This development creates opportunities in renewable power generation, grid technologies, energy storage systems, hydrogen technologies, smart solutions, digitalization, and energy efficiency.

Additionally, Akhundov acknowledged the role of German expertise, innovation, and technology in supporting Azerbaijan's energy transition objectives. He expressed confidence in the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijani and German businesses, which he believes will lead to new opportunities for both countries.
