Agency: Metro Expansion Will Reduce Harmful Gas Emissions

Baku: Expanding metro systems in Azerbaijan will contribute to lowering harmful gas emissions, stated Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy. She made these remarks during the second day of the ‘Baku Climate Action Week’ event.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Humbatova highlighted that energy consumption in Azerbaijan is distributed across various sectors, with 39% attributed to household needs, 31% to transportation, and 15% to construction.

Humbatova outlined plans to increase the number of electric railways and expand metro lines as part of efforts to reduce emissions. She emphasized that these measures are crucial for Azerbaijan’s commitment to lowering its environmental impact.
