Baku: Azerbaijan and Trkiye are expanding their energy cooperation beyond oil and natural gas to include the integration of their electricity systems, Trkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced at the 5th Azerbaijan-Trkiye Energy Forum.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bayraktar emphasized that the relationship between Trkiye and Azerbaijan extends beyond typical neighborly ties or commercial partnerships. He described it as a bond of brotherhood, mutual trust, and shared historical successes. The forum, Bayraktar noted, is not just an assembly for the energy sectors of both nations but a strategic platform for shaping a common future under the principle of "one nation, two states."

Bayraktar outlined the extensive cooperation spectrum between the two countries, encompassing natural gas, oil, mining, renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity markets, and transmission and distribution. He highlighted the ongoing transformation in the global energy sector, which is increasingly centered around electricity.

The minister pointed out that the focus has shifted from merely producing energy to ensuring its delivery to consumers in a safe, sustainable, fast, and efficient manner. He emphasized that robust and interconnected electricity systems enhance supply security, promote the integration of renewable energy, and create new opportunities for energy trade between countries.

Bayraktar further stated that Trkiye views interconnectors not just as technical connections between electricity systems but as strategic tools that bring countries' energy systems closer together.
