Baku: Ukraine highly values its strategic partnership with the Republic of Azerbaijan, as emphasized by Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev, in his article marking his country's Unity Day, APA reports. The partnership is built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to the fundamental norms of international law.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan consistently supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity while providing significant humanitarian aid. Recently, under the direction of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan sent another batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This aid included powerful generators, transformers, electric cables, and low-voltage panels. The ambassador expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijani leadership and its people for their solidarity and support during challenging times, which includes the rehabilitation program for Ukrainian children and the restoration of social facilities in Irpin.
Yuriy Husyev stressed that Ukraine, in return, has always supported Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He highlighted the significance of energy cooperation in their bilateral relations. In 2025, a pivotal agreement was signed between Naftogaz Ukraine National Joint Stock Company and SOCAR for the supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to Ukraine, which marked a breakthrough in diversifying Ukraine's energy supply sources and enhancing Europe's energy security.
The ambassador further noted that the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in ensuring security and stability in the Black Sea-Caspian region. He underscored the importance of their mutual engagement within international organizations, which confirms the strategic nature of their relations and their commitment to defending recognized international law principles.
Looking ahead to 2026, Yuriy Husyev stated Ukraine's commitment to further deepening comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan through joint projects in energy, transportation, logistics, investments, healthcare, education, and culture. He expressed confidence that the continued development of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan strategic partnership would contribute to strengthening regional security and economic growth, fostering peace based on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law principles.
