Baku: At a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi, ammunition detonated, injuring four servicemen and resulting in the loss of contact with several others. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, law enforcement officers have already begun interrogating the command, and proceedings have been initiated, UNN reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the incident occurred on July 31, 2026, at approximately 11:55. The injured servicemen were transported to a medical facility where they are currently receiving necessary care. The severity of their injuries is still being assessed. Contact with several servicemen who were present at the scene is lost, and efforts to determine their whereabouts are ongoing.
Law enforcement officers have initiated interrogations involving the command and servicemen from the relevant military unit. The Office of the Prosecutor General stated that an inspection of the scene and initial investigative actions will commence once the detonation ceases and safe access to the training ground is established. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the explosions.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the procedural supervision of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region. The preliminary legal classification pertains to Part 2 of Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses violations of rules for handling weapons, ammunition, explosives, or other substances that pose an increased danger to the environment, particularly if such actions result in bodily injury to several persons.
