Baku: Weekly information on operations carried out by institutions involved in demining activities in the territories liberated from occupation has been released, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told APA. In the latest update, ANAMA reported the detection of 29 anti-personnel mines, 22 anti-tank mines, and 497 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the liberated territories.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, these findings were part of a systematic effort to clear the region of hazardous remnants of past conflicts. The operations led to the successful clearance of 1,668.8 hectares of land, marking a significant stride in ensuring the safety and accessibility of these areas for residents and future development projects.
The ongoing demining activities are crucial for restoring normalcy and facilitating the return of displaced populations to their homelands. The removal of mines and UXO is a critical step in the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the liberated territories.
