Baku: Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has reported the discovery of 71 landmines and 574 unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the country’s liberated territories.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAMA’s latest operations have shown significant progress in clearing these areas from explosive threats.
The operations, carried out across multiple regions including Tartar, Aghdam, Aghdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankendi, Kalbajar, Khojavend, Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan, resulted in the identification and removal of 35 anti-personnel mines and 36 anti-tank mines. Additionally, a substantial number of UXOs were also discovered during the process.
ANAMA’s efforts have successfully cleared a total of 1,925.4 hectares of land, making significant strides in enhancing the safety and security of these liberated areas. The agency’s ongoing demining operations are a critical component of Azerbaijan’s post-conflict recovery and development strategy, aiming to facilitate safe resettlement and infrastructure development.
