Baku: Recent operations in the liberated territories have revealed significant progress in demining efforts, as reported by the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA). The agency has announced the discovery of 149 mines and 412 unexploded ordnances (UXO) in these areas.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAMA's operations last week, covering the period from June 1 to June 7, 2026, resulted in the identification of 48 anti-personnel mines and 101 anti-tank mines. These discoveries underscore the ongoing challenges faced by demining teams in ensuring the safety and usability of liberated lands.
In addition to the mines, the demining teams successfully cleared 1,545.7 hectares of land from various explosive hazards. This extensive clearance effort is crucial for the safe resettlement and rehabilitation of these territories, which have been marred by conflict-related remnants.
The continued efforts of ANAMA and related organizations are vital in restoring normalcy and security to the regions affected by past conflicts. The agency remains committed to its mission of removing the dangers posed by landmines and UXO, thereby facilitating the safe return of displaced residents and the sustainable development of these areas.
