Baku: The initial days of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku experienced contrasting weather conditions, attributed to climate change, as noted by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and National Coordinator of WUF13. During his speech at the official opening press conference, Guliyev emphasized the unusual weather patterns, highlighting their significance in the context of climate change discussions.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev expressed his surprise at the rainfall, stating, "To be honest, as someone who grew up in Baku, I have never seen this much rain in May. This is not normal. But this is the reality we are facing. That is exactly why such discussions and forums are important. We must find ways to adapt to climate change." His remarks underscored the urgency for dialogue on adapting to the evolving climate challenges facing urban areas worldwide.
