Baku: Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and WUF13 National Coordinator, announced during his speech at the official opening press conference of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku that 260 organisations from 85 countries are represented at the Urban Expo exhibition. He highlighted the truly global scale of WUF13, noting the extensive participation from around the world.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, as of May 17, a total of 42,367 people from 182 countries had registered for the forum, with 21,108 participants attending on the first day. The forum features an active Urban Expo where national governments, city administrations, international organisations, academic circles, innovators, and private sector leaders showcase practical solutions and partnerships.
The Urban Expo covers an exhibition area of approximately 35,000 square metres, with half of the space dedicated to exhibitions. Among the 260 participating organisations, 15 are academia and research institutions, 136 are civil society representatives, 44 are private sector representatives including 14 startups, 41 are national government pavilions, 10 are public sector companies, and 6 are local and regional government representatives.
The Azerbaijan pavilion, spanning 1,500 square metres, highlights the nation's heritage, urban development, tourism potential, and reconstruction projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur. Guliyev emphasized that the pavilion, themed 'from vision to action - together with people,' showcases Azerbaijan's urban transformation journey and introduces new initiatives reflecting the country's contribution to the forum's evolving spirit.
