Baku: The restoration work being undertaken by Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as the Great Return initiative, are attracting significant interest from numerous international organisations and partners. This was stated by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and WUF13 National Coordinator, during his speech at the official opening press conference for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev highlighted the challenging and rapid processes that Azerbaijan has navigated successfully. He pointed out the extensive planning efforts, which have addressed mine-related issues and have been implemented simultaneously across vast territories. Work is being carried out in 12 cities and hundreds of villages, indicating the large-scale nature of this project. The focus is not only on constructing buildings but also on creating a new quality of life in these areas.
Guliyev emphasized the unique governance model and institutional reforms that have been executed under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan. These reforms have already enabled approximately 90,000 people to live, work, and study at universities in Karabakh and East Zangezur. The efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to urban planning and development, taking into account modern tendencies and recommendations.
