Armenian Church’s Activities Pose Significant Threat to Regional Stability – CMO Chairman

Baku: The Armenian Church’s establishment of religious representations in territories that belong to others poses a significant threat to neighboring regional countries, stated Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), during a meeting of the Council of Elders of the CMO.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Pashazadeh emphasized that Armenian religious circles have settled in the historical Azerbaijani land of Uchmuedzin, referred to by Armenians as Etchmiadzin, where Azerbaijani compatriots rest. He highlighted that these circles have been engaged in establishing religious representation in territories not belonging to them. The CMO chairman pointed out the establishment of the Artsakh Diocese in Karabakh and the Novo-Nakhchivan Diocese in Russia, under the guise of the Nakhchivan name.

Pashazadeh criticized the Armenian religious center, which he claimed portrays itself as a distinct community based on unfounded historical assumptions. He accused them of supporting the idea of a ‘Great Armenia’ through spreading falsehoods and hostility, undermining peace and brotherhood. He argued that the Armenian church’s activities are aimed at deceiving the international community and continuing its presence on historical lands by any means necessary.

Pashazadeh warned that the Armenian church’s goal is to act as a mobilizing center in the event of Armenia’s political collapse. He suggested that they aspire to create a Gregorian religious state similar to the Vatican and lead it themselves, a move he believes poses a great threat to all neighboring countries in the region.
