Armenian Coordinator Highlights Significance of Fourth ‘Peace Bridge’ Meeting

Yerevan: Passage through the delimited and demarcated section of the Azerbaijan border is an important symbolic step demonstrating how realistic peace is and how feasible the implementation of the peace process agreed during the meetings of our leaders in Washington and earlier in Abu Dhabi is, said Areg Kochinyan, coordinator of the 'Peace Bridge' initiative and President of the Armenian Council, APA reports. He made the remarks at a press conference dedicated to the meeting of experts from Azerbaijani and Armenian civil societies held within the framework of the initiative.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kochinyan emphasized that the 'Peace Bridge' initiative aims to promote communication and dialogue among civil society representatives, experts, and the media. The initiative has two main objectives: preparing societies in Armenia and Azerbaijan for peace after more than 30 years of conflict, and providing a platform for experts to propose new ideas and test reactions to these ideas, which sometimes become part of official negotiations.

Kochinyan highlighted that the holding of the fourth meeting of the 'Peace Bridge' initiative is a significant accomplishment. Initially, there were doubts about the initiative's continuity and institutionalization. However, the fourth meeting indicates that these criticisms were unfounded. The initiative has reached a level of normalization, with mutual visits and contacts between Armenian and Azerbaijani experts becoming routine and considered normal.

Furthermore, the coordinator announced agreements on new initiatives, including articles, research, and joint events as additional outputs of the cooperation, showcasing the ongoing commitment to peace and dialogue.
