Baku: 'The mission of the European Union (EU) is studying not the region, but rather Armenia itself,' Armenian expert Ish'han Verdyan said during the latest episode of the 'Azerbaijan and the World' program broadcast by the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), commenting on the outcomes of the 6th meeting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council held in Brussels.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the expert highlighted concerns regarding the mission's composition, which includes former representatives of European intelligence structures, arguing that this prevents it from being considered a neutral element. Verdyan explained that the mission, positioned in specific locations, is primarily engaged in a detailed study of infrastructure, logistics, and communication systems where it operates, which he believes poses a risk of sensitive internal information leaking beyond Armenia's borders.

Verdyan further criticized Armenian politicians for supporting this foreign presence without fully understanding the potential consequences, citing a lack of foresight. He suggested that government officials view Europeans as guarantors of their success, without sufficiently considering the long-term risks associated with the mission's activities.

Additionally, Verdyan expressed the opinion that the mission's activities could eventually be discontinued, as has happened with other foreign military formats in the past.
