By the end of June this year, 5,474 foreigners were working at Azerbaijani enterprises on the basis of permits for paid work, the State Statistics Committee reports. According to the agency, about half (48.2%) of foreigners attracted by permits of the State Migration Service from abroad are employed in the construction sector. The rest work in the manufacturing industry - 8.7%, in the extractive industry - 9.2%, in the hotel and restaurant business - 6.3%, in communications and ITK - 3.9%, trade - 4.4%, etc. It may be recalled that the quota for labor migration for 2023 is established by the government at the level of 6,740 people. The labor migration quota does not apply to foreign specialists involved in work on territories liberated from occupation. According to the State Migration Service, from January to July 2023, 2,495 work permits were issued for foreigners in the liberated territories. Thus, about 8.000 foreigners are employed in Azerbaijan under labor contracts
