Canberra: Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn has addressed a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Independence Day, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter expressed warm wishes from both the Australian Government and its people to Azerbaijan on their National Day. In the letter, Mostyn acknowledged the support Australia received from Azerbaijan, notably during the evacuation of Australian citizens from Iran in 2025. The Governor-General also expressed optimism about the continued prosperity of friendly relations between the two nations in the coming year.
