Abu dhabi: A panel session titled 'Public Spaces from Early Childhood' was held as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13). The discussions focused on the significance of creating inclusive public spaces in light of rapid urbanization and the increasing number of children residing in urban areas.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, speakers at the session projected that by 2030, 60 percent of the urban population is expected to be under 18 years old. This demographic shift underscores the necessity of involving children in urban planning processes. The speakers stressed that public spaces are crucial for the social and emotional development of young children. However, they noted that children living in low-income and informal settlements often face barriers in accessing such spaces.

Participants at the session highlighted the importance of adopting participatory approaches to develop safer and more inclusive public spaces tailored for children. The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, allowing for further discussion and exploration of the topics presented.
