Baku:Autumn has officially arrived in Azerbaijan, marking the start of the astronomical autumn season.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University's Faculty of Physics confirmed this change, identifying the moment as the autumnal equinox.

This change indicates that astronomical autumn has begun in the Northern Hemisphere, while the Southern Hemisphere welcomes the start of astronomical spring. As a result, daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere will gradually decrease, leading to longer nights.

In 2026, astronomical autumn in the Northern Hemisphere will last for 89 days, 21 hours, 45 minutes, and one second. This season will conclude with the winter solstice on December 22, marking the onset of astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere and astronomical summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
