Baku:President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Tiina Nirk, the newly appointed Ambassador of Estonia to Azerbaijan, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the ambassador presented her credentials to President Aliyev, who emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits and contacts at various levels to expand cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia. He also welcomed the positive developments in Azerbaijan-European Union relations, highlighted by recent visits from high-ranking EU officials.

Ambassador Tiina Nirk expressed her honor at being appointed as Estonia's first ambassador to Azerbaijan and committed to strengthening ties between the two nations and with the European Union. She noted the potential for expanding partnerships in political dialogue, business, information technology, and logistics. Additionally, she pointed to the cooperation opportunities in education, with around 200 Azerbaijani students currently studying in Estonia.

The ambassador also praised Azerbaijan's humanitarian efforts in assisting Ukraine. The meeting underscored the significance of opening the Estonian embassy in Azerbaijan, which is expected to further bolster bilateral relations. Discussions also included the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation and other mutual interests.
