St. petersburg: An Airbus A320 aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), executing flight J2-020 on the St. Petersburg-Baku route, was compelled to make an emergency landing at Pulkovo Airport. The incident occurred on October 20, 2025, as confirmed by AZAL to APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Airbus A320 had been subject to regular and comprehensive technical inspections since its integration into the AZAL fleet. The aircraft was reported to be in optimal technical condition during the flight from St. Petersburg. A scheduled general technical inspection, known as an “A-check,” was completed in September 2025, with all technical work conducted in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines and the airline’s internal procedures.
AZAL highlighted that the experienced pilots adhered strictly to the airline’s internal rules and international regulatory procedures. Their professionalism was instrumental in minimizing potential risks during the flight, thereby ensuring the safety of the passengers and maintaining the flight’s maximum safety standards.
