Baku: Azerbaijan is revising the timeline for enforcing a ban on electronic cigarettes and their components, affecting their import, export, production, storage, wholesale, retail sale, and use. This development comes as part of a proposed amendment to the law "On Tobacco and Tobacco Products," which is set for a second reading discussion at the Milli Majlis session tomorrow.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the amendment includes electronic cigarettes containing nicotine in the definition of tobacco products. These devices are designed for inhaling vapor, with or without nicotine, and exclude food products, tobacco products, medicines, and medical devices. Electronic cigarettes can be used with a device featuring a mouthpiece or other components, such as cartridges and vials, which can be refillable or disposable.

The Milli Majlis initially adopted the draft law in its first reading on December 19, with a proposed enforcement date of February 1, 2026. However, in the draft submitted for the second reading, this date has been adjusted to April 1, 2026.

It is noteworthy that during the first reading discussion, Azer Amiraslanov, chairman of the parliamentary committee on economic policy, industry, and entrepreneurship, suggested amending the period of application for the ban.
