Baku:The Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Shahin Baghirov, has detailed the ongoing efforts for Azerbaijan's accession to the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS).

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Baghirov highlighted the importance of expanding and developing infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and tunnels, to address related issues. He emphasized that simplifying procedures is crucial to organizing transit transportation more efficiently and accelerating processes.

He also pointed out that modern tools are being used at new transit crossings within Azerbaijan and the region. As part of the Azerbaijan-European Union partnership and in cooperation with European and regional partners, the introduction of a new digital transit system is underway. This system, already in use in European countries, T¼rkiye, and Georgia, facilitates quicker information processing and border crossings without paper documentation.

The chairman stressed the main goal is to complete the implementation of this digital system promptly. Efforts are being made to integrate it into Azerbaijan's IT infrastructure, ensuring harmonized electronic systems for information exchange with Moldova, Georgia, T¼rkiye, and other countries. Baghirov expressed confidence in the continued success of these ongoing initiatives.
