Baku:The delay in Azerbaijan's full membership in international transit conventions related to the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) has been clarified by Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Baghirov stated that Azerbaijan has held unofficial observer status since 2017. The transition involves two main areas transit procedures and document processing, with ongoing efforts to harmonize and mutually recognize the relevant documents.

Baghirov emphasized that significant progress is anticipated soon, particularly in establishing a robust information technology infrastructure. The state is tasked with ensuring comprehensive IT infrastructure, digital capabilities, and solutions, which are crucial to this transition. Efforts to enhance these areas are actively underway.
