Azerbaijan Allocates 688 Hectares in Nakhchivan for Solar Power Plant Development

Nakhchivan: The Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decision to designate a 688-hectare state-owned land plot in the administrative territory of Nakhchivan city for the development of renewable energy sources, specifically for a solar power plant.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decision outlines the use of this land for the construction of a solar power plant with an initial capacity of 50 MW. This capacity is expected to be expanded in the future, contingent upon export opportunities.

The Ministry of Energy has been tasked with implementing measures to select the electricity producer for this renewable energy area. This selection process is to be conducted in accordance with the ‘Procedure for Selecting an Electricity Producer in Renewable Energy Areas,’ which was approved by Decree No. 2285 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 2, 2023.
