Baku: Azerbaijan is among the top five foreign destinations experiencing rapid growth in demand among Russian tourists this autumn, as revealed by research conducted by travel planning service OneTwoTrip.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, hotel bookings in Azerbaijan for autumn 2026 have surged by 18 percent compared to the same period last year. Greece led the list with the highest increase in demand at 109 percent, followed by Cyprus at 100 percent, Serbia at 75 percent, and Trkiye at 60 percent.

Russian travelers have displayed a notable decline in interest in traditional European destinations. Hotel booking demand in Spain dropped by 82 percent, in Germany by 73 percent, in France by 65 percent, and in Italy by 59 percent. Bookings in the UAE also fell by 74 percent.

Experts suggest that factors such as accommodation costs, transport links, and visa requirements are becoming increasingly crucial for Russian tourists in selecting overseas destinations.
