Baku: Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, met with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Christine Engstrom, Director General of the bank's Sectors Department 3 (SD3). During the meeting, Minister Aliyev emphasized the effective cooperation between Azerbaijan's ministry and ADB in the fields of labor, employment, and social protection, highlighting the importance of previously implemented joint projects.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Aliyev pointed out the positive outcomes achieved under the project 'Enhancing ADB's Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.' He also stressed the significance of the Country Partnership Strategy for 2025-2029 in furthering collaboration with ADB.
The Minister provided information on recent social reforms in Azerbaijan, such as the benefits of the DOST concept, the execution of active employment programs, and the improvement of workforce skills. He noted the extensive use of digital solutions in the social sector, recent changes in labor legislation, and reforms in the mandatory health insurance system.
Christine Engstrom expressed ADB's strong interest in continuing and enhancing collaboration with Azerbaijan's ministry. The meeting concluded with discussions on possible opportunities for implementing new joint projects between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and ADB.
