Accra:Azerbaijan and Albania are seeking to strengthen their tourism ties by exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, recently met with Jola Hysaj, General Director of the Albanian National Tourism Agency, and Besart Kadia, the Albanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan. The meeting aimed at enhancing connectivity between the two countries and encouraging more tourism exchange.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this meeting followed a Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 21, 2025, between the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and the Albanian National Tourism Agency. The agreement established a framework for long-term collaboration, initially set for five years with an automatic renewal for another five years, focusing on strengthening tourism ties and promoting diverse travel experiences.
The discussions centered on developing joint tourism activities by 2027, improving connectivity, and encouraging greater travel exchange. Emphasis was placed on destination promotion, knowledge-sharing, and stakeholder engagement to create more accessible and attractive travel experiences for visitors.
Both countries share a commitment to sustainable tourism, year-round travel, and showcasing their natural and cultural attractions. The partnership aims to introduce travelers to new experiences, from Azerbaijan's cultural heritage and mountain landscapes to Albania's Mediterranean coastline and historic towns.
A follow-up visit is planned to further these discussions and explore practical initiatives, marking progress in strengthening tourism links and enhancing the international profile of both destinations.
