Media Representatives Observe Demining Operations in Aghdam

Aghdam:Media representatives participated in a tour organized by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Aghdam district. The tour aimed to showcase the demining operations conducted by the Ministry in the recently liberated areas.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Ministry's Special Risk Rescue Service continues to undertake intensive efforts to clear mines and unexploded ordnance from these territories. The operations are being conducted in various locations, including villages, settlements, drinking water reservoirs, and water canals.

Suleyman Huseynov, commander of the Mine Action special-purpose military unit, explained that the demining efforts in Aghdam are ongoing with the support of advanced machinery and equipment, such as remotely controlled GCS-200 demining robots. These robots, along with manual demining methods and trained dogs, are instrumental in the operations. The GCS-200 can clear between 750 and 1,500 square meters per hour, depending on the terrain.

The media tour also highlighted the crucial role of mine-detection dogs and the measures in place to ensure medical safety during demining activities. The health and psychological well-being of the personnel involved in the operations are monitored, and necessary medical facilities are established to provide assistance.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations advises citizens to adhere strictly to mine safety rules, avoid entering uncleared areas, and stick to designated routes. In the event of discovering a mine or suspicious object, citizens should refrain from touching it and immediately contact the '112' hotline.
