BAKU: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev recently welcomed Ole Toft, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark, as he presented his credentials. According to Trend News Agency, the meeting between President Aliyev and Ambassador Toft highlighted the underexplored potential for cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas such as trade and political relations. President Aliyev expressed his optimism about the possibilities for enhancing relations with Denmark, noting the active engagement Azerbaijan has with several European Union member states. The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the strategic importance of discussing regional policies at a significant historical moment for the region. He also pointed out Azerbaijan's development as a hub for trade, energy, and infrastructure, despite its geographical challenge of not having direct access to open seas. President Aliyev mentioned the country's success in establishing one of the la rgest international shipping fleets and modern transportation infrastructure, which includes railways, highways, seaports, and airlines. Ambassador Toft assured that he would endeavor to boost cooperation between Denmark and Azerbaijan across multiple sectors. He acknowledged the increasing recognition among Danish politicians of Azerbaijan's pivotal role in connecting Europe with Central Asia. The ambassador also highlighted the potential for Danish companies to contribute to Azerbaijan's sectors of trade, energy, and infrastructure. Further discussions focused on Azerbaijan's initiatives in attracting investments in the oil, gas, and green energy sectors, with ongoing efforts to position the country as an international hub for green energy and transportation. The conversation also covered the increasing volume of cargo transportation in Azerbaijan and the country's efforts in digitizing transportation infrastructure and customs to enhance the efficiency of transport operations. The talks extended to Denm ark's extensive experience in transportation, noting the presence of Danish companies in this sector and the significant prospects for future cooperation in transportation and logistics between the two countries. The ambassador also conveyed his congratulations regarding COP29, emphasizing the global significance of the event and the constructive cooperation between Denmark and Azerbaijan within this framework. They explored prospects for direct interactions among business circles and collaboration in green energy and green technologies, including the creation of a "green energy corridor" linking the Caspian and Black Seas and renewable energy projects involving Central Asian countries.
