Baku: On September 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono to discuss key issues concerning Azerbaijan-EU cooperation. The meeting focused on the development of the bilateral partnership, the current regional situation, and efforts to enhance regional peace and stability.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the talks highlighted the significance of high-level mutual visits and contacts in advancing the Azerbaijan-EU agenda. Both parties emphasized the need to expand cooperation across various areas. They also discussed the further development of the institutional and legal framework for Azerbaijan-EU relations and the conclusion of negotiations on the bilateral Partnership Priorities document. Additionally, they deliberated on prospects for negotiating a new bilateral agreement.

The meeting also addressed steps being taken to ensure peace and security in the South Caucasus, focusing on normalization and confidence-building between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The discussions held in August in Bishkek between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia were noted for their importance in advancing the regional peace agenda.

An exchange of views on ongoing work in the fields of energy and communications in the region was also part of the meeting, along with other issues of mutual interest.
