Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, engaged in a telephone conversation with Sering Modou Njie, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad of the Gambia. The dialogue centered on the current and future development of relations between the two nations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both ministers emphasized the urgency of conducting political consultations between their respective Foreign Ministries. These consultations are to be held in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, which was signed in September of the previous year.
In their discussions, the ministers highlighted the importance of enhancing political dialogue and facilitating reciprocal visits. They also discussed the potential for expanded cooperation within international organizations. Additionally, the ministers talked about Azerbaijan's forthcoming chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the preparations for the significant events expected to take place during this period.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also informed his Gambian counterpart about the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is scheduled to occur in Azerbaijan this year. The conversation also covered regional and international security issues, along with other mutual interests.
