Berlin: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz in Berlin, where they conducted both one-on-one and expanded meetings to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions emphasized the importance of a newly signed document on the strategic agenda between Azerbaijan and Germany. The leaders agreed on the necessity of establishing working groups to systematically advance cooperation across various fields. This initiative aims to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance Azerbaijan's role in Europe's energy security, particularly through the Middle Corridor.
Additionally, the leaders acknowledged the importance of mutual visits in bolstering the relationship between the two nations and exchanged views on regional matters. Chancellor Merz congratulated President Aliyev on the progress made towards advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He assured that Germany is committed to supporting and strengthening peace efforts in the region.
