Vatican city: As part of his visit to the Vatican, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Giovanni Cesare Pagazzi on July 9. The meeting underscored the importance of mutual respect and a shared commitment to universal values as the foundation for relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the foreign policy direction established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and continued by President Ilham Aliyev has created favorable conditions for expanding bilateral cooperation. Projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, under the leadership of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, have significantly contributed to preserving the world's cultural heritage in the Vatican and promoting intercivilizational dialogue, fostering friendship and mutual trust.
Ramin Mammadov emphasized the preservation of multicultural values as a priority for the Azerbaijani state. He asserted that the strong partnership between Azerbaijan and the Vatican provides a solid basis for expanding humanitarian cooperation, advancing interreligious dialogue, and implementing new joint projects. Mammadov highlighted the importance of maintaining direct contacts to achieve these goals.
Archbishop Giovanni Cesare Pagazzi, recalling his visit to Azerbaijan with appreciation, praised the country's atmosphere of tolerance and its rich historical and cultural heritage.
