Baku: Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, met with a Zimbabwean delegation led by Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda, Speaker of the National Assembly. The meeting focused on expanding energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe, including renewable energy, the oil and gas industry, and the exchange of experience in energy legislation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the parties discussed the development of Azerbaijan's energy sector, the country's contribution to global energy security, and the measures being implemented to advance the energy transition. They noted that hydrocarbons would remain an important component of the global energy mix for many years to come, while Azerbaijan has identified the development of renewable energy sources as a strategic priority.

The meeting also highlighted that a modern legislative framework for the renewable energy sector, aligned with international best practices, has been established and has already proven effective in practice. The Zimbabwean delegation was subsequently briefed on Azerbaijan's wind and solar energy projects currently under implementation, as well as the Green Energy Corridor initiatives.

The Zimbabwean speaker noted that his country is willing to benefit from Azerbaijan's expertise in developing its energy sector. He highlighted the importance of studying Azerbaijan's experience in strengthening energy security, improving the investment climate, developing renewable energy projects, as well as its energy legislation and financing mechanisms.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize a seminar to share Azerbaijan's expertise with the Zimbabwean side on its oil and gas contractual model, the legislative framework governing renewable energy, and investment mechanisms in the energy sector.
