Baku: Azerbaijan and Hungary evaluated potential collaboration avenues in the green energy sector during the fifth online meeting of the energy working group between the two nations’ governments.

According to Trend News Agency, the discussions were facilitated by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy.

Co-Chairman of the Working Group and Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Energy Zaur Mammadov highlighted the successful activities that have characterized the working group’s efforts to bolster cooperation in the energy sector between Azerbaijan and Hungary. The meeting underscored that the energy partnership has grown stronger and taken on a strategic nature due to mutual discussions and long-term collaboration.

The meeting also pointed out the mutually beneficial nature of the cooperation in the oil and gas sector between Azerbaijan and Hungary, with energy companies from both countries recognizing the benefits of their collaboration. The involvement of Hungary in various energy-related events such as the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Councils, Baku Energy Week, and initiatives within COP29 was highly valued.

Additionally, the challenges and opportunities in collaboration between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania in green energy development and transmission were discussed. The Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor project was highlighted as a significant initiative in this regard.

The Hungarian co-chair, Isabella Feierabend, who is the Head of the Energy and Climate Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, noted the progress made in energy cooperation between the two countries. She emphasized joint projects in the oil and gas sector and the exchange of experiences in green energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency.

The meeting reviewed the work completed since the previous meeting of the working group, with presentations on cooperation in oil and gas, renewable energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency. The discussions concluded with the signing of a protocol documenting the results of the fifth meeting.
