Baku: Azerbaijan and Hungary have advanced discussions on oil-gas and energy issues during the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Energy, held online. The Ministry of Energy communicated this development to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Co-Chair of the Working Group and Head of Administration of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, Zaur Mammadov, highlighted the successful efforts in bolstering energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary. The energy partnership has been strengthened through mutual discussions and long-term collaboration. Mammadov noted the evolution of cooperation in the oil and gas sector into a mutually beneficial relationship and expressed appreciation for the collaboration between energy companies of both countries. The involvement of Hungary in the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Councils, its participation in Baku Energy Week, and its support for Azerbaijan’s energy initiatives within COP29 were acknowledged. He also discussed the significance of the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor project, which involves Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania.

Co-Chair from the Hungarian side, Ms. Izabella Feierabend, Head of Department of Energy and Climate Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, remarked on the successful development of bilateral energy cooperation. She discussed joint projects in the oil and gas sector, infrastructure opportunities, and emphasized the importance of experience exchange in green energy and energy regulation, as well as the expansion of cooperation in energy efficiency.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed progress since the previous meeting, explored presentations on ongoing projects in oil and gas, renewable energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Protocol outlining the outcomes of the 5th meeting of the Energy Working Group.
