Baku:A meeting took place between Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, co-chairs of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation. The discussions were part of a visit by an Azerbaijani delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting focused on the current state of economic and trade relations, transport and communications, and humanitarian fields. The implementation status of agreements from the 17th State Commission meeting, held in Baku in February, was also reviewed.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the positive impact of the active political dialogue and friendly relations between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, noting the significance of their recent meeting in Bishkek. Mustafayev stressed the need for accelerated implementation of agreed projects and continued coordination among relevant institutions.

Key topics included the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor and enhancing its capacity in the transport and transit sector. The completion of the Aghband-Kelaleh highway bridge construction and issues related to border-crossing infrastructure commissioning were discussed. Progress at the Astara cargo terminal, including expanding its cargo-handling capacity, was also reviewed.

Both sides expressed their commitment to ongoing efforts to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, ensuring consistent implementation of agreements from the 17th State Commission meeting and expediting joint project implementation.
