Azerbaijan and Iran Strengthen Customs Collaboration Through Strategic Meeting

Baku: A meeting was convened in the city of Bileh Savar, Iran, involving high-level delegations from Azerbaijan and Iran to discuss enhancing customs cooperation. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Colonel General of the Customs Service Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Foroud Asgari, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions focused on synchronizing vehicle clearance procedures at border crossing points, leveraging electronic data exchange, and improving operational efficiency. Both sides expressed a commitment to coordinating the development of their cooperation further. The meeting also covered transit procedures, aiming to facilitate the swift transit of freight vehicles between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via Iran.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol, underlining the agreements reached. Post-meeting activities included the Azerbaijani delegation's visit to the Bileh Savar customs post in Iran and the Iranian delegation's visit to the Bileh Savar state border checkpoint in Azerbaijan, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the discussions.
