Baku: The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Iraq conducted a second round of consular consultations, aiming to simplify the visa regime between the two nations. The discussions were led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Falah Abdulhassan, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the consultations focused on evaluating the current state and future prospects of cooperation in the consular field, with particular emphasis on simplifying the visa process for citizens of both countries. The discussions also covered the protection of rights and freedoms for citizens, provision of necessary consular assistance, and the enhancement of bilateral agreements in this area.

Both sides exchanged views and shared experiences on recent innovations in the consular field. They highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in areas such as migration, internal affairs, and justice, including legal assistance. The consultations underscored the mutual interest in improving cooperation and facilitating easier travel between Azerbaijan and Iraq.
