Baku:On the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting emphasized the importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq. Both ministers highlighted the significance of mutual support on regional and international platforms to further enhance relations rooted in historical friendship and solidarity.

The discussions also covered cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including preparations for the Seventh Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in October, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit planned for the following year.

Additionally, the ministers exchanged views on the complex regional situation in the broader Middle East.
