Azerbaijan and Italy Exchange Documents on Energy Cooperation in Rome


Rome: On September 5, a ceremony took place in Rome for the exchange of key documents between Azerbaijan and Italy, attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, APA reports. The agreements focused on biofuels, energy supply security, and greenhouse gas reduction, reinforcing the countries’ collaboration in energy.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Italy’s Eni S.p.A. These agreements include cooperation in oil and gas production, energy transition, and the reduction of greenhouse gases. The documents were exchanged by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.



The signing ceremony underlines the growing energy partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy, with both nations committing to joint projects aimed at securing energy supplies and advancing the green transition.
