Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to Implement E-Permit System for Road Transport

Baku: Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have reached a pivotal agreement to transition from paper-based permits to an electronic permit system for international road transport, starting next year. This development was solidified during a meeting of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport, a collaboration between the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) and the Kazakh Committee for Road Transport and Transport Control.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the decision to fully digitize the permit exchange and issuance process is expected to reduce administrative and operational challenges. The e-permit system is anticipated to enhance the transparency, speed, and efficiency of organizing international transportation processes.

The meeting included representatives from Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee and the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA). Discussions centered around the current state and future development of international road freight transportation between the two nations. The meeting also underscored the growth in bilateral freight transportation volumes, highlighting the significant roles Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan play in the international and transit transport system.
