Nairobi: A delegation led by Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, visited Kenya at the invitation of Renson Ingonga, Director of Public Prosecutions, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office. The delegation was first received by William Ruto, President of Kenya.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kamran Aliyev conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President William Ruto. In response, President Ruto expressed gratitude for the greetings and requested Aliyev to relay his regards to President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting underscored the growing relations between Azerbaijan and Kenya, emphasizing cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of both nations.

Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev also held discussions with Renson Ingonga, highlighting the strong bilateral relations built on friendship and mutual trust, fostered by the leaders of both countries. Ingonga acknowledged the strengthening partnership between the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan and Kenya, mentioning his three visits to Azerbaijan in the previous year.

Ingonga extended his congratulations to Azerbaijan for successfully organizing the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors and the plenary session on law enforcement’s role in combating climate change at COP29. He also recalled his visit to Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district, noting the evidence of Armenian vandalism and the ongoing restoration efforts.

The discussions included enhancing legal cooperation, implementing a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024, utilizing artificial intelligence, drafting agreements on crime combat, extradition, and legal assistance, and planning reciprocal visits. Sultan Hajiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, was also present at the meetings.

Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev later visited the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kenya, where he paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying flowers at his bust and met with the embassy staff.
