Azerbaijan and Laos Strengthen Diplomatic and Economic Ties

Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Lao counterpart Thongsavanh Phomvihane during the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok. The meeting marked a significant moment in the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Laos.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ministers recalled the first political consultations between their countries' foreign ministries, celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. They reviewed the current state of their bilateral relationship and explored prospects for expanding cooperation in various fields such as politics, economy, humanitarian efforts, transport, and logistics. They emphasized the significance of the Middle Corridor in enhancing these ties.

Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane highlighted the importance of educational cooperation and announced the establishment of the Laos-Azerbaijan Friendsh ip Association. The foreign ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, reflecting their shared interest in regional stability.

The discussions further addressed potential cooperation between Azerbaijan and Laos within international organizations, notably the Non-Aligned Movement and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). They also covered other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, signaling a commitment to strengthen their partnership on the global stage.
