Baku:President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani, the newly appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to Azerbaijan, on October 5. The ambassador presented her credentials and engaged in discussions with the president.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the strong political relationship between Azerbaijan and Malaysia and emphasized the need to enhance economic cooperation to match these ties. He suggested expanding collaboration in sectors such as energy, investment, and tourism, and maintaining an active political dialogue through mutual delegation visits.
The President extended his best wishes to the ambassador for her diplomatic mission and expressed his gratitude for the greetings from Malaysia's King Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, along with their invitation to visit Malaysia. President Aliyev reciprocated with an invitation for the Malaysian leaders to visit Azerbaijan.
The ambassador affirmed her commitment to strengthening the bilateral cooperation further and noted the longstanding positive relations between the two nations. Both parties agreed on the importance of mutual support in international organizations and discussed initiatives to boost tourism, such as the elimination of visa requirements and the establishment of direct air connections.
Educational cooperation was also a topic of discussion, with recognition of the exchange programs that see Azerbaijani students studying in Malaysia and Malaysian students studying in Azerbaijan, supported by Azerbaijani government scholarships.
