Kuala lumpur: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with Tan Sri Dato Johari Bin Abdul, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia, to discuss strengthening interparliamentary ties between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Chairman of the House of Representatives praised the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation's participation in the 46th AIPA General Assembly, noting that such platforms present significant opportunities to address issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Both sides expressed appreciation for the interparliamentary collaboration within international organizations, particularly highlighting their joint activities within the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

During the discussions, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underscored the importance of the 46th AIPA General Assembly in fostering cooperation between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Malaysia. They also explored future cooperation prospects, acknowledging that ongoing meetings and negotiations are testaments to the successful ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The Speaker also provided insights into the current developments in the South Caucasus, including the liberation of Azerbaijani territories and the ensuing restoration efforts in Garabagh and East Zangazur by the Azerbaijani government. Additionally, Sahiba Gafarova shared her perspectives on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, referencing the recent visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Washington, D.C.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other areas of mutual concern, further solidifying the commitment to enhancing interparliamentary relations.
